How to Choose a Reputable Breeder
Before you explore any list, know what to look for. A reputable breeder will be transparent about health testing (OFA/PennHIP for hips and elbows, eyes, heart), raise puppies at their home (not a broker or puppy mill), offer a health guarantee, and be a resource for you throughout the dog’s life.
Be wary of prices that seem too good to be true. Not all breeders are created equal. Here’s how to spot the ones who prioritize puppy health and ethical practices.

-
Transparent communication
-
Welcomes in-person or virtual visits before purchase

No references, reviews, or proof of happy past buyers
-
Pressure to pay or commit immediately
-
Puppies are always “available” with no waitlist
-
Refusal to show parents or the breeding facility
-
No documentation of health testing or vaccinations
Health and Care Tips for Mini Golden Retrievers

-
Grooming: Weekly brushing, monthly baths, and hair trims keep shedding minimal
